MEDIA RELEASE

On the 5th day of March 2018, at approximately 10:00 A.M, the Wikwemikong Tribal Police responded to an Ambulance Assistance call at an apartment complex situated at 176 Henry Street in the village of Wikwemikong, where a 43 year old male victim had been assaulted and was unconscious and suffering from serious injuries. The male victim was transported to the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current before being transferred to Health Sciences North in Sudbury for life threatening injuries.

It was revealed, through police investigation, that the assault occurred sometime between the night of Sunday March 4th and the early morning hours of Monday March 5th in an apartment unit of 176 Henry Street. The accused assaulted the male victim who was left unconscious and bleeding inside the residence. The male victim laid in the apartment unconscious for an undetermined amount of time before ambulance was called.

The accused, 28 year old Shane Shanandoah Mishibinijima is charged with Aggravated Assault and appeared in bail court on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 in Wikwemikong.
