Ontario is standardizing three types of police record checks to protect your rights.

There a three standardized types of record checks:

  • Criminal Record Check includes applicable criminal convictions and findings of guilt under the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act
  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check includes applicable criminal convictions, findings of guilt under the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act, absolute and conditional discharges, outstanding charges, arrest warrants, and certain judicial orders
  • Vulnerable Sector Check includes the same type of information that is disclosed in a criminal record and judicial matters check as well as applicable findings of not criminally responsible due to mental disorder, record suspensions (pardons) related to sexually-based offences, and in certain circumstances, non-conviction charge related information; when a strict test is met

How to get a Records Check:

  1. Please fill out the Record Check form: Record Check Form_WTPS 2021
  2. Bring your completed form along with photo identification to :

Please allow 10 days for processing or unless advised otherwise

Acceptable Identification

Two pieces of identification are required to obtain a Police Record Check.  Examples of acceptable identification include, but is not limited to:

  • Primary Identification- Must include photograph, signature, name and date of birth:
    • Provincial Driver’s License
    • Foreign Driver’s License
    • Canadian or Foreign Passport
    • Nexus Card
    • Ontario Photo ID card
    • Canadian Citizenship Card
    • Canadian Permanent Resident Card
    • Certificate of Indian Status
  • Secondary Identification- Must include full name:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Additional primary ID as listed above
    • Baptismal Certificate
    • Canadian Blood Donor Card
    • Fishing License
    • Hunting License
    • Outdoors Card
    • Immigration Papers
    • Recent Utility bill required to verify current Wikwemikong address if no driver’s license is available.
    • Federal, Provincial or Municipal Government Employee ID Card
  • Unacceptable Identification
    • Ontario Health Card (The Ontario Health Card cannot be accepted for identification purposes as governed by the Health Cards and Numbers Control Act, 1991 section 2.2(1))
    • Social Insurance Number

The Ontario Health Card cannot be accepted for identification purposes as governed by the Health Cards and Numbers Control Act, 1991 section 2.2(1). The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service can only process a Police Record Check for those who can provide evidence that they are a current resident of Wikwemikong.
